Flores Man
(Nature online, 27 October 2004)

It sounds too incredible to be true, but this is not a hoax. A species of tiny human has been discovered, which lived on the remote Indonesian island of Flores just 18,000 years ago. Researchers have so far unearthed remains from eight individuals who were just one metre tall, with grapefruit-sized skulls. These astonishing little people, nicknamed 'hobbits', made tools, hunted tiny elephants and lived at the same time as modern humans who were colonizing the area. News@nature.com tells the story of a find that changes the world of palaeoanthropology, and challenges our perception of what it means to be human.

Wanita Modern Bilang, "No Sex Please..."
(Kompas, 20 October 2004)
Hmm.., wanita zaman sekarang agaknya benar-benar sibuk. Mereka tidak punya banyak waktu luang. Kalau boleh jujur, mereka akan mengatakan kepada pasangannya, "No sex please, we're too busy..."
Dibandingkan wanita era 1950-an, wanita modern jarang sekali berhubungan seks.
More..
tjap tjay: on the same note, produksi dan promosi sexual enhancers macam viagra kok makin gencar? sekarang ini di amerika ada 9 perusahan obat-obat sex dibanding cuma 2 yg buat flu vaccine (itu pun yg satunya hampir tutup). jay leno dari tonight show sampe berseloroh bhw orang-orang mungkin mending mati karena flu daripada gak ereksi. "good luck coba tutup peti matinya," quipped leno.

a night for baseball!

there are ways to define baseball, as there are moments in the history of the game that define baseball itself -- the lou gehrig speech, the shot heard 'round the world 9th inning playoff homerun, or larsen's perfect game in the world series. but for a novice like me, it was the moment when curt schilling took the mound in game 6 of the ALCS, with stitched-up ankle tendon and blood seeping through his sock, and delivered seven clutch innings -- that's what defines baseball. it reminded me why i fell in love with this game.
